These lines aptly define the persona of Shri Dhruv Narayan Singh. Shri Singh, a young, popular and hard-leader in Madhya Pradesh politics was born on January 1, 1959 at Rampur-Baghelan in Satna district(M.P.). He is son of the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh late Shri Govind Narayan Singh and grandson of the first Prime Minister of Vindhya Pradesh Captain Awadesh Pratap Singh. Currently Shri Singh in family tradition is engaged in variety of social work. He believes –“if your actions inspires others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more you are a leader”.
Shri Singh as the Chairman of M.P. State Tourism Development Cooperation has fulfilled the dream of making Madhya Pradesh a leader in the tourism sector in the country. He has also immensely contributed towards the development of various sports in the city of Bhopal and in Madhya Pradesh. He has been a Ranji Trophy player in the past and is currently the Chairman of the Bhopal Division Cricket Association. He has also been elected as the Chairman of Bhopal Hockey Association.
Shri Singh has been elected or appointed to a number of important positions. From 2003 to 2007 he was the Chairman of the Bhopal Development Authority. During his tenure he enhanced the financial standing of the authority as a result of which it emerged as a profitable organization. He was also instrumental in the establishment of the Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT) to cater to the needs of the people of the State. He has also been the Chairman of M.P. State Tourism Development Corporation which is a cabinet rank post. While chairman, he explored new strategies and opportunities to develop, expand and enrich the tourist spots of Madhya Pradesh and also bring on the tourism map many hidden jewlels of the state. He also focused on the development of infrastructure to attend to the needs of visiting tourists.
Under his chairmanship M.P. State Tourism Development Corporation won many accolades which includes IATO Award for Best Emerging State in the Year 2006, Today Travelle Diamond Award for best publicity and promotion, IATO Award for most Tourism Friendly State, SATTI Samsung Award for best State for Tourism, National Tourism Award for Panna National Park, most Innovative Product award for Rail Coach Restaurant, Bhopal. In the year 2008-09 the tourism department got the National Tourism Award for the most Innovative use of Information Technology, Website/Portal Promoting Tourism in Madhya Pradesh, National Tourism Award for Best Rural Tourism Project (in village Pranpur of Ashok nagar district of Madhya Pradesh). In the same year M.P. State Development Tourism Corporation was yet again crowned with another title. The three units of Tourism Corporation Satellite Office situated at Delhi, Kiplings Court at Pench and ultra modern “Dhaba” named High Way Retreat Dhondi situated on Bhopal Indore Highway were given ISO certificate.
Shri Singh is deeply involved in his work. He has visited Sri Lanka, England, Singapore and Germany for study of infrastructure development. He was also the member of the Madhya Pradesh delegation to the International Tourism Festival (WTM&ITTM) at Berlin.
A sportsman himself, Shri Singh has been a ray of hope to many youngsters . He organizes the “DAU SAHEB” Cricket Carnival in memory of his father every year. He has also contributed towards the development of other sports like football, hockey, chess, shooting and rally car racing and has organized tournaments in the past.
Taking the family tradition of social work forward, he has organized many national level Kavi Sammelans, Cultural Programmes, fairs, concerts etc. He is the patron of Uday Cultural and Sports, Chairman of Friends of Bhopal Society and Chief patron of Iftekar Smriti Rashtriya Natya Evam Sangeet Samman.
Shri Singh has been elected as a MLA from the Bhopal Madhya Vidhan Sabha Constituency. A bold, intelligent, generous, helpful and congenial person, he has passionately worked for the upliftment of the poor and the downtrodden.
Shri Singh has stated his work mantra to be “Don’t wait for the perfecft circumstances. It will never be perfect. There will be challenges, obstacles and difficutiesl, so keep persevering and with each step you take you shall grow stronger, more skilled, more self confident and more successful. Success is not final, failure is not fatal, and it is the courage to continue that counts.”
